Accessibility Statement
Website Accessibility Statement
This website is run by Exceed Academies Trust.
This accessibility statement applies to www.exceedacademiestrust.co.uk.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. This means you should be able to, for example:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We have also aimed to make the website text as clear and simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet provides advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Scope of this statement
This accessibility statement applies only to the Exceed Academies Trust website (www.exceedacademiestrust.co.uk).
The Trust website contains links to individual school websites and external platforms. These websites are managed separately and have their own accessibility statements.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non‑compliances listed below.
Exceed Academies Trust is committed to improving accessibility and addressing barriers where it is reasonably practicable to do so.
Non- accessible content
The content listed below is not fully accessible for the following reasons.
Navigation and interactive elements
Some navigation elements, including menu controls and icon‑based buttons, may not provide sufficient text alternatives for users of screen readers or other assistive technologies.
Colour contrast
In some areas of the website, text and background colour combinations do not fully meet recommended contrast ratios. This can affect readability for users with visual impairments.
Images and decorative content
Some images used for decorative purposes do not include alternative text. Where images convey important information, we aim to provide appropriate text alternatives.
Documents
Some older PDF documents and downloadable files are not fully accessible to screen reader software. We aim to ensure that new documents published to the website are accessible by default. Historic documents may not be remediated unless they are required to access the Trust’s services or are specifically requested in an alternative format.
Embedded and third‑party content
Some embedded content, such as maps, videos, sliders, or externally hosted material, may not be fully accessible or compatible with all assistive technologies.
These issues mean the website does not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards. Some accessibility issues arise from the design of legacy templates and third‑party components used across the website. We are working with our website provider to address identified issues and will prioritise fixes where they relate to essential information or core functionality.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Exceed Academies Trust is committed to improving the accessibility of this website. We are doing this by:
- working with our website provider to address identified accessibility issues
- prioritising improvements that affect navigation, readability, and access to essential information
- ensuring new content and documents are created with accessibility in mind
- reviewing accessibility when website templates or functionality are updated
- considering feedback from users who experience difficulty accessing information
Accessibility is an ongoing process, and we recognise that further improvements will be needed over time.
Testing this website
This website has been checked for accessibility using informal internal testing, including the use of freely available automated accessibility‑checking tools and basic manual checks such as keyboard navigation and screen zoom.
Automated tools can identify potential accessibility issues but may not capture all barriers or distinguish between decorative and functional content. Findings are reviewed and prioritised based on their impact on users’ ability to access essential Trust information and services.
Third-Party Content
Some content on this website is provided by third parties or links to external websites. While we aim to use accessible services wherever possible, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content that is not under our control.
