Safeguarding and pupil wellbeing praised

The inspection confirmed that safeguarding standards are fully met, with inspectors finding that leaders have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed. Pupils told inspectors that they feel safe in school and benefit from positive and nurturing relationships with staff.

A particular strength identified within the report is the school's pastoral provision. Inspectors described pastoral support as "a real strength" and recognised how leaders work in pupils' best interests to remove barriers to learning and wellbeing. From targeted interventions and specialist support to close work with families and external agencies, the report highlights the school's commitment to supporting children and helping them overcome barriers to success.

Inclusion at the heart of school life

Ofsted recognised the school's inclusive approach and the support provided for disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Inspectors noted that leaders understand the needs of their pupils well and work diligently to ensure that all children can access the opportunities available to them.

The report highlights effective partnerships with social workers and other professionals, alongside targeted support that helps reduce barriers to learning and wellbeing. Inspectors also recognised leaders' commitment to ensuring that pupils can participate fully in trips, enrichment activities and experiences beyond the classroom.

Strong foundations for personal development

Inspectors found that personal development is a priority throughout the school and highlighted the many opportunities pupils have to contribute positively to school life. The report recognises leadership opportunities such as the school's "Powerful Girls" and "Happiness Heroes" groups, alongside a broad programme of enrichment activities, educational visits and sporting opportunities. Inspectors found that pupils learn how to stay safe, healthy and respectful of others, helping prepare them well for life beyond primary school.

The school's early years provision was also recognised positively. Inspectors found that children are prepared well for Year 1 through a carefully planned curriculum, strong relationships with staff and families, and a nurturing environment that supports confidence, independence and communication skills.

Clear ambition for continued improvement

The report recognises that leaders have identified attendance, achievement and consistency in teaching as priorities for further improvement. Inspectors acknowledged the work already underway to strengthen teaching, improve attendance and ensure that pupils develop secure knowledge and skills across the curriculum. Ofsted also recognised leaders' ambition for pupils and noted that appropriate plans are in place to bring about further improvements.

The inspection highlights that improvements in areas such as personal development and early years are already having a positive impact on pupils and demonstrates the school's determination to continue raising standards across all aspects of provision.

Strong leadership, governance and Trust support

Inspectors praised leaders' commitment to improving the school and ensuring that pupils' best interests remain at the heart of decision-making. They also recognised the effective role played by trustees and local governors, highlighting their understanding of the school's strengths and priorities and the challenge and support they provide to leaders.

Staff spoke positively about the support available through Exceed Academies Trust, including professional development opportunities and consideration of workload and wellbeing. Inspectors noted that staff value the many opportunities available to develop their practice and strengthen their understanding of how pupils learn.
